Dak Prescott, Who Has Played In A Total Of Zero NFC Championship Games, Says The Dallas Cowboys Are "Very Close" To The Philadelphia Eagles Right Now
Well, shit. The Eagles parade was scheduled to be on Friday, but it looks like they'll have to cancel it now. I know the Eagles just won the Super Bowl, but Dak says the Cowboys are "very close". How can you even consider the Birds to be Super Bowl Champions anymore? Practice on Monday, boys.
There are things that you say to your teammates in the group chat while you're watching the Super Bowl that you just don't have to say out loud to the media. Like, I get it. Every team has to go into every season thinking they have the pieces to win a Super Bowl, because what would even be the point of playing otherwise? I get having confidence in your squad, and doing the mental gymnastics it requires to tell yourself that you have a chance next year.
But let's just do the math real quick to see if maybe Dak has a point. Let's see how "very close" the Cowboys actually are.
Team A has won 3 NFC Titles and 2 Super Bowl Championships since 2017. They just played in their 2nd Super Bowl in the past 3 seasons, and have won the most recent.
Team B hasn't even been made an appearance in an NFC Championship Game since 1995. There are only like 5 or 6 guys on the current Team B roster who have been alive long enough to see Team B play for an NFC Title, and they would have been in diapers.
You can hardly even tell the difference between those two blind resumes! You'd have to squint to see any major differences. All I'm saying is that maybe...just maybe....now might not be the best time for Dak to start comparing themselves to the Eagles. Maybe now would be a great time to just shut up, congratulate the Eagles on massacring the Chiefs, and say it's time to get back to work. But that just wouldn't be the Dallas Cowboy way, now would it? Just remember--it's not a lie if you believe it.
