Really Awesome: Alabama Wide Receiver Ryan Williams Signs NIL Deal with Nail Polish Brand Sally Hansen
You love to see it. For the longest time, greedy, money-hungry universities milked their "student athletes" for all the money they were worth, and the athletes didn't see a lick of the profits. If an athlete dared as much to trade a personal belonging for an arm tattoo, or sign an autograph in exchange for a cup of ramen noodles, they were deemed bad people, and were tarred and feathered national stage. With the exception of NBA players who make $40M/year being forced to move from Dallas to Los Angeles, it was the closest thing we had to modern day slavery in America. But now things are different. The NCAA has been cut off at the balls, and college athletes for the first time are making money hand over fist the way they've always deserved to.
But there's a dark side that comes with athletes holding the all the power. The quality of football has taken a hit. Players are transferring schools left and right, hindering their own personal growth as athletes because some guy in a cowboy hat who allegedly owns a car dealership vaguely insinuated he'll give them $50,000 at some point down the road. The NIL era is the Wild West. Many players have been promised money that they will never end up receiving. Student/professional athletes are getting into business with shady characters. Forced to enter relationships with people of the adult autograph seeking community. While other more attractive athletes have resorted to avenues like OnlyFans where they exploit their bodies to make a quick buck. It can be nasty business. So especially in a conference like the SEC, where the Georgia Bulldogs of the world are inking million dollar NIL deals with drunk driving, it's great to see a positive role-model like Ryan Williams parlay his wholesome family tradition of little-sister-painting-older-brothers-nails-like-a-girl, into a cosmetics partnership. It's great to see a star wide receiver, who instead of skipping town because Jeffrey Epstein's best friend promised him an extra $5M to play for Ohio State, stayed loyal to the sinking ship of a football program that is the Alabama Crimson Tide under Kalen DeBoer, and signed a legitimate deal with the reputable company that is Sally Hansen.
For a man to paint his nails used to mean having dyed black hair that covered one eye, a stained Misfits t-shirt, and a strong desire to kill yourself. But thanks to nail painting pioneer Caleb Williams, male athletes now have a whole new fabulous industry to profit off of. Caleb Williams showed youth athletes of the world that just because you can have gorgeous nails, and still be a 1st overall draft pick Heisman Trophy winning quarterback who sometimes weeps openly in his mothers arms after losing a game.
And it's encouraging to see Ryan Williams is taking care of his hands, the most valuable asset to both his team and his career. His beautifully manicured Sally Hansen nails will pair nicely with his tattoo sleeves, his Turkish veneers, and "KILL EVERYBODY" eye black as he blows past cornerbacks at 35 mph.
Very cool, Ryan Williams. His NIL valuation is now allegedly at $2.3 million. And now that he's with Sally Hansen, he won't have to waste dime of it on his nails. Good luck at Alabama this season. Hopefully they get you a quarterback who's good at throwing footballs this year.
