New TikTok Theory Suggests That Kendrick Lamar Will Bring Out Timothée Chalamet To Perform During The SuperBowl Halftime Show
Never in a million years did I think a TikTok could convince me that Kendrick Lamar's surprise guest at the SuperBowl Halftime Show would be Timothée Chalamet - or maybe even Bob Dylan himself - but god damn, I think that TikTok convinced me!
Here's a quick summary of the theory that TikTok user @Katone is proposing if you can't watch the video:
-Timothée Chalamet and Kendrick Lamar do an interview together promoting the SuperBowl Halftime Show
-That seems like a bit of a strange pairing for no reason, so Katone researches connections between Bob Dylan and Kendrick Lamar's music
-It turns out both 'Not Like Us' by Kendrick Lamar and 'Ballad of a Thin Man' by Bob Dylan use the same piano line from the Ray Charles song, 'I Believe To My Soul' - and Dylan famously said he couldn't reveal who 'Ballad of a Thin Man' was about or else he'd get sued
-Drake is currently suing his own label over defamation in 'Not Like Us' and their promotion of it
-Maybe Timothée Chalamet, who just played Bob Dylan in 'A Complete Unknown', will make an appearance to play that Ray Charles piano sample?
Katone even suggests that maybe Bob Dylan himself will show up, but c'mon now. Bob Dylan doesn't do shit like that. He's basically Luke Skywalker in 'The Last Jedi' levels of recluse as this point. It's Chalamet or bust....or if you're Feitelberg - both!
You can listen to 'Not Like Us' HERE, 'Ballad of a Thin Man' HERE, and 'I Believe To My Soul' HERE if you'd like to compare.
Timothée Chalamet is on a generational run right now, from becoming the most likable dude in America with a couple correct college football picks and an appearance on the Theo Von podcast, to starring in two of the year's Best Picture nominations, to crushing as the host AND musical guest on Saturday Night Live, to even dating Kylie Jenner - I've said it before and I'll say it again: it feels like he picked up the starman in MarioKart. He's seemingly untouchable.
He's even put out some weird Shia LaBeouf ass videos in the past couple months and we've all just ignored em! That's Timmy being Timmy!
Could a performance with Kendrick Lamar at the SuperBowl Halftime Show be Icarus flying too close to the sun though? Would Chalamet jump the shark with that level of exposure?!
I don't think so, as a newfound hardcore Chalamet stan (just like the rest of the 26 year old guys in America) - but I am suggesting it for the sake of fairness in this blog. I don't know!
I weirdly think there's a non-zero chance of this happening, though. Timothée Chalamet is a huge rap fan (as discussed in his recent Nardwuar interview) and Kendrick is a big old school music fan/the kind of guy I could see really appreciating Bob Dylan and wanting to incorporate a nod to him if it makes sense right now….and based on this theory….it kinda makes sense right now! Or hell, maybe they toss that connection and Oscar campaign out the window and Kendrick just brings Chalamet out to do his old Statistics rap….
Does Chalamet declaring his allegiance put the final nail in Drake's coffin on Sunday? We'll just have to wait and see.
