The Cavs Had A Halftime Dunk Contest That Was Better Than Some Of The Recent Dunk Contests At NBA All-Star Weekend

I have to admit that my headline felt a little too full of hyperbole as I typed it considering there have been some incredible performances at the NBA Dunk Contests over the years. But then I remembered all the recent dogshit contests full of missed dunks, the same old trick of dunking over a player/celebrity, and whatever nonsense the broadcasters or judges pull off that causes the entire world to cry about the dunk contest needing to be fixed.

So fuck it, I'm going to say there was a better dunk contest on a January Thursday night in Cleveland than there has been at some NBA All-Star Weekends and there's nothing anybody can do about it. Mostly because that last dunk was fucking awesome. The rest were at the very least professional grade too and somehow smoother than some of the guys who get paid millions to play in the NBA. But everyone always remembers the best dunk of the contest, which was clearly this.

Which takes me to the real point of this blog. We need more halftime dunk contests at NBA games. My favorite part of League Pass is watching all the in-game entertainment during timeouts. Shooting halfcourt shots for a bunch of money is cool, as is Red Panda and all the other beautiful sideshows in the halftime show circuit. But seeing either incredible dunks or to be honest incredible failures at attempting incredible dunks needs to be added to the rotation. Maybe that will fix the NBA ratings issues everyone won't stop talking about.

Oh yeah and we need AT LEAST one game of Tic Tac Toe every single night of the NBA slate because these games almost always deliver in some sort of comedy or incredible ending.
