That's The First Embarrassing Moment Of The Mark Pope Era And Something That Should Never Happen With This Kentucky Team

I don't care that Andrew Carr was out. This was the first low point, the first embarrassing moment of the Mark Pope era. You go down 14 in the first half, you had a 7-point lead in the 2nd half, you had a chance to win and just collapsed in the last 4 minutes. That can't happen. Lamont Butler has to be injured, concussed or both. There's no way he can be this bad. He was flat out awful and the last turnover he had was one of the worst plays I've seen all year - from any team.

Now it's time to see if this team has any balls. You go on the road to Tennessee before hosting Calipari. This is the week that can define this season. Yeah, the SEC is a war, Vandy is a Tournament team, all that. I don't care. That's not why you lose this game. You lost this game because they were fucking awful for the first half and the last 4 minutes of the game. All that after a week off. You simply can't come out that way. Too many games Kentucky has done this and they've won some of them.

But now it's all about figuring shit out and quite frankly being tough. That's why I want to see what sort of heart this team has. No clue if Andrew Carr plays this week, the way he looked against Alabama I doubt it. But this is now two games in a row Kentucky has lost because of how they closed a game.

This team isn't talented. They aren't loaded with NBA talent. They win because they execute. You can't turn it over 17 times and win. Not against Vandy. This simply can't happen. You have all these seniors with a ton of experience. At some point someone has to become the leader and step up outside of Oweh and Robinson when it comes to scoring. Someone has to be willing to defend. Someone has to calm shit down besides Pope at halftime. Right now we're entering the biggest week of Kentucky's season. This is the difference from a top-4 seed to being a 6 or 7 seed.
