Lead From The Front: Pitt Head Coach Jeff Capel Nearly Started A Brawl With FSU Players Because They Dared To Dunk With No Time Left

Hmm, just thinking out loud here. This feels familiar, but I can't figure out why. A coach going to opponents and talking about how they are too classy and too good to score a 'meaningless' bucket. Trying to connect the dots here.

Makes a lot more sense now!

I can't think of a bigger loser than any coach who throws a hissy fit because the team who just kicked your ass decided to dunk one last time. It's a 40 minute game, play until the buzzer. I don't give a shit if you're up 10 points. Don't like them dunking on you to celebrate, don't lose to a team who isn't that good. The last thing you can do is try to start a brawl. First off, you look pathetic. Second, what are you really going to accomplish here as a head coach? Scold an opposing player for scoring? Try to lay down the law because you got your feelings hurt?

I'd seriously love to get the truth serum answer here from Capel. What's the end game? Just to tell a college kid not to dunk when they don't play for you? I never understood people who get upset about this. Mind you with the NET, running up the score is important to that. Oh, and it's basketball. Who cares? Honestly if you get upset that the team who won is celebrating you're a gigantic loser. Jeff Capel falls into that category after last night.
