Johni Broome Went Down On Saturday And Cooper Flagg's Player Of The Year Stock Is Up Tremendously

So heading out of last Thursday's show, I would've been about 90% sure on a couple things: Johni Broome was going to win National Player of the Year, and Auburn was in the driver's seat to be the #1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament in a few months. Now, obviously anything can happen on both fronts, but the way Tennessee had just gotten routed by 30, and the resume Auburn had already racked up full of Johni Broome's double-doubles.....man, there was no question who was the best player on the best team in the country. Until Saturday....

That injury looked BAD. Good news is that it sounds like it's not surgical, not a high-ankle, and not going to be a season ender. Could be back in just a few games? Could be up to 6....or even more. But regardless, tough day for Auburn to lose their best player, when the next man up over in Durham was in the midst of his best game as a college basketball player....

I want it on record that by about 3:00 on Saturday, I was convinced Cooper Flagg would win the NPOY. On account of both the injury and the 42 point performance, but also the fact that Duke is going to flat out route the rest of the ACC these next two months. I mean, who's the next best team? Clemson? North Carolina. Duke is head and shoulders above both. Cooper Flagg has not had his last 30 point game, I'll say that…
