The Packers Season Once Again Ends In Tremendous Disappointment
Yeah that sucked. No doubt about it, the Packers deserved to lose in Philadelphia Sunday afternoon. Sure they entered this one without Jaire Alexander or Christian Watson and lost guys like Romeo Doubs and Elgton Jenkins over the course of the game, but that's not the reason they lost. When you fumble the opening kickoff like Keisean Nixon did you shoot yourself in the foot to a point of no return (even if it was a bullshit recovery call). Can't happen at this stage. Despite the Eagles playing their D+ game, the Packers decided to offer their F- effort. Jordan Love was straight up bad and Matt LaFleur was awful. Everything else besides that doesn't matter. There are no outside excuses I'm willing to entertain. The Packers deserved to lose this game plain and simple. Philly for sure looks at themselves lucky to play the way they did and come away with a relative stress free postseason win, but who cares? A win is a win, and for the Packers a loss is a loss.
When it comes down to my history of fandom with this team this doesn't come close to the most devastating loss of my football life. 4th and 26, Bostick's onside kick fumble, anything with fucking Kaepernick, last year against Purdy, 4th and 8 vs. TB, the missed facemask vs. Arizona, and Larry Fitz in OT after the back to back hail marys. Yeah, this doesn't hold a candle to those disasters. Still incredibly sad, forcing you to look forward to next year somehow. Do they need a true no. 1? Boy have I been asking for one for years.
Good things? Josh Jacobs was a stud all year long. Edgerrin Cooper emerged as a rising star on defense. Brandon McManus provided the team with an actual consistent kicker (ignore his miss tonight). Tucker Kraft might be a monster if used properly.
Annoying things? Jaire Alexander could not stay on the field. Love was good, but not great. Tonight? Pretty bad. Matt LaFleur did not win a single game this season against a good team. Is he on the hot seat? No, but pressing questions are going to keep coming up about him doing something significant.
I don't know man, this shit is beyond frustrating. That's a game they should have won, yet they lose by two scores. Sadness.
