Power Ranking The Top 10 Ohio State Football Plays This Century
Alright so I blogged yesterday about whether or not Jack Sawyer's Strip 6 was higher or lower on the Ohio State All-Time Plays list, and in the TikTok comments, a discussion took off of the Top 10 Plays in history. I narrowed it down to this century because I don't know where to put Jack Gibbs back in 1954, but here's what I've come up with (and the video above shows them all):
10. Braxton Miller Hail Mary vs. Wisconsin (2011)
9. Joey Bosa Walk-Off Sack vs. Penn State (2014) - National Championship Year
8. Evan Spencer to Michael Thomas - Reverse TD Pass Before Half vs. Alabama (2014) - National Championship Year + College Football Playoff Game
7. Troy Smith Late Game TD vs. Michigan in the "Game of the Century" (2006) - Made the National Title
6. Tyvis Powell Game-Saving INT on Two Point Conversion vs. Michigan (2013)
5. Curtis Samuel 3rd and 9 vs. Michigan to set up JT Barrett's 4th and 1 - More important than his game winning touchdown 2 plays later! (2016)
4. Holy Buckeye vs. Purdue (2002) - National Championship Year
3. Jack Sawyer's Strip 6 vs. Texas (2025) - **For now
2. Ezekiel Elliott's 85 Yards Through the Heart of the South vs. Alabama (2014) - National Championship Year
1. Maurice Clarett Steals Ball Back From Sean Taylor INT vs. Miami (2002) - National Championship Game
Honorable Mentions: (Best PLAYS) - Braxton spin move vs. Va Tech, Noah Brown TD catch vs. Oklahoma, Justin Fields to Olave vs. Clemson - (Biggest Plays) - Victor TD vs. Penn State, Baugh TD vs. Penn State, Guiton TD + 2 Pt Conversion vs. Purdue, Krenzel 4th Down vs. Miami, Cie Grant ending game vs. Miami, Troy Smith to Anthony Gonzalez to get it down to the 1 vs. Michigan (this should've been on the list)
Let me know what you think. I understand that plays like Krenzel on 4th vs. Miami and Cie Grant ending the game have to be up there, but the whole list can't come from the same game….
