The Southern Mississippi Women's Soccer Team Just Got A Bunch Of New Fans After Landing Brazilian Superstar Kiana Dufour
So this is gaining a lot of traction on Twitter the last few days, of which I mean I've seen two posts with thousands of replies saying they're tuning into every Southern Mississippi women's soccer match from now on. Lost in the shuffle of Livvy Dunne's final season return to college gymnastics, the College Football playoff, and the NFL postseason, was an announcement from Southern Mississippi saying that they've officially signed Kiana Dufour from Canada to their roster. This could be considered one of the most viral transfer portal decisions in all of collegiate sports if you really think about it. Kiana currently plays semi-pro in Canada, which luckily doesn't apply as being a professional athlete and dismiss your collegiate eligibility. I can't really find any stats or highlights online considering everything is in French because she plays in Quebec, but rest assured that she's going to be a superstar for this team:
Kiana hails from Brazil, and if we know anything about Brazilian soccer players, we've got our hands on the next Neymar, Ronaldo, Pele, Ronaldinho, Kaka Marta. I don't know what Southern Mississippi's NIL budget looks like, but it won't be long before we see Kiana peddling some car sales from the local Hattiesburg, MS dealership until the big bucks start flowing in. Side note, upon my research Southern Mississippi ranks 2nd in the entire nation in acceptance rate at a whopping 99% so if you're really trying to catch some games, it's not too late to head back to college and get that education. The Golden Eagles finished last season with a 3-7-5 record, but my inkling tells me that next season will be the best one yet! Rah rah!
