I Will NOT Acknowledge The Saints And Bears Requesting To Interview Kliff Kingsbury For Their Head Coaching Jobs
Let the record show this is me NOT acknowledging that teams, including the Bears and Saints, are going to be interviewing Kliff Kingsbury for their vacant head coaching jobs. As long as we are in the playoffs I will not acknowledge that we might be losing Kliff after only 1 year. I am begging, pleading to the football gods that he pulls a Ben Johnson and decides he'd rather build something in Washington than go be a head coach in some dog shit organization like Chicago. But I get it- coaches aspire to build head coaching legacies.
But I'll say this- he can build a bigger and better legacy sticking around Washington for a few years than going to Chicago or the Jets or the Giants.
The situation in Washington is perfect for him. He's getting a ton of credit for Jayden, he has a stud WR in Terry, a head coach who trusts him in Dan Quinn, an ownership group that is not stingy with money, $100 mil in cap room this offseason, and so on and so forth. Everything in Washington is perfect for Kliff to thrive...but yes, it would have to be as the OC, not the head coach, which I get is a huge difference in many people's minds.
If he chooses to go, good luck to him. But I will not even think about this scenario until after the season is over. Which, mind you, it is not, because this team went 12-5 and have a prime time playoff game on Sunday. And if we win that one, I will continue to ignore the Kliff head coaching interview news, that is my promise to you.
PS: 5 weeks ago it was "he runs a college offense" and "can't win in the 2nd half of the season" and "Kliff cliff", and now everyone wants him?! Get lost!
