Amy Schumer Is Back With A New Comedy That Looks Like A Pile Of Garbage
The story follows Lainy, who, being jealous of her best friend's pregnancy, begins to wear a false pregnant belly - and accidentally gets to meet the man of her dreams.
Amy Schumer is an enigma to me. My awareness of her began with 'Inside Amy Schumer', which was a good show and later 'Trainwreck' which was very funny and introduced Hollywood to the fact that John Cena is very good at comedy. Then, like Hollywood does every time they find someone they find someone moderately entertaining (IE Kevin Hart), they decided to put her in everything, greenlight every project, put her face and voice everywhere than anyone consuming media would hear it and she became way too overexposed which lead to a lot of people disliking her. Then, she was accused of stealing jokes from better comedians for both her show and for her own stand up. The evidence was rough….
I do think parallel thinking is very real, but some of these are just hard to write off. Anyway, between the joke stealing and overexposure, people got sick of her. Then Trump came into office, she became one of the broken brain hollywood people that had to make that her entire personality and we didn't much out of her besides some guests spots, bad standup and the 2018 movie 'I Feel Pretty' which I saw with Jeff D. Lowe. The theater was so empty that, when I decided to prop up my legs and rip a fart halfway through the torture, the echo lasted a solid 20 seconds.
This all leads me to what I find so enigmatic about her. How does she still have work like this? Every time she does anything, people hate it. You might think I'm just in a barstool bubble but no. Both in my sports world of 30 year olds named Matt and Chris and in my hyper-lib film critic world, she is despised. And yet here she is, getting the lead in a Netflix comedy. As I say that out loud, it doesn't sound that impressive, but it really is!
So, yea, movie looks bad. Potentially silly concept that is just ruined the second you see her face. What got me a little interested was learning more about the director of this movie, Tyler Spindel. This guy is an absolute legend when it comes to bad movies. He's a Harvard grad that starts out with these all-time greats.
Some true all timers in here. Then he moves to directing

The wrong mother fucking missy! One of hte worst movies of the last 5 years. Looking at this filmography go the gears turning on why this guy was involved in so much Happy Madison stuff ('Kinda Pregnant' is also a Happy Madison joint). Turns out, this guys is ADAM SANDLER'S GOD DAMN NEPHEW! Just when you think you know Sandler's entire crew, a new guy appears along for the ride.
This comes to Netflix Feb 5th.
P.S. Are they trying to sneaky replace Rebel Wilson with a new annoying Australian lady?
