Heartbroken for New Orleans After Terrorist Attack on Bourbon Street
2025 could not have gotten off to a sadder or more tragic start.
At 3:15am on New Year's Eve morning, a truck sped onto Bourbon Street in New Orleans killing 15 people and injuring at least 30 more. It is so heartbreaking to see New Orleans go through this.
One of the deceased is Tiger Bech, the brother of star TCU WR Jack Bech and a former Princeton football player.
I knew some of the Bech family from my time at ESPN Baton Rouge and they were all such great people and a well respected family.
Please pray for the New Orleans community and everyone affected. The world needs it now more than ever.
The Notre Dame/Georgia game was postponed from last night until 3pm CST today after the attack as the French Quarter was on lockdown yesterday.
Sports has a way of bringing people together in tough times but the scope of this tragedy is impossible to overlook. My heart goes out to the families of everyone affected. These poor people were just out enjoying life on New Year's and now it has been taken away by a terrorist and for what?!?!?
New Orleans is hosting the Super Bowl in a little over a month too. I have full faith the increased security will alleviate all worries some people may have.
Hug your loved ones tight because we are living in crazy, uncertain times. But as always New Orleans will somehow endure through more heartbreak. They are a resilient bunch down there.
