For The Second Time THIS MONTH, The Bulls and Hornets Tied The NBA All-Time Record For Combined Missed 3's In A Game with SEVENTY FIVE
Source - Two weeks ago, the Chicago Bulls and Charlotte Hornets set a record for three-point futility, combining to miss 75 three-point attempts. Monday, the two teams needed an overtime period but matched the 75 misses in a 115-108 Bulls win.
The Bulls shot 18-of-60 from behind the three-point arc, while the Hornets went 10-of-43. Chicago's 42 missed three-pointers are tied for the sixth-most in NBA history. They missed 42 threes in a 143-107 loss to the Houston Rockets on Nov. 17, while they were on the winning end of a Dec. 19 game where the Boston Celtics missed 42 threes in a 117-108 Bulls win.
This is the second-most missed three-pointers by a winning team after a 2019 game where the Houston Rockets were 25-of-68 on threes in an overtime win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
With the Bulls ranked second in three-pointers made and taken this season, behind only the Celtics, they may well break their own record for misses this season. Still, they're seventh in the NBA with 117.6 points per game. It may look ugly at times, but bombing away from deep may be what's keeping the Bulls' offense afloat.
All we keep hearing about from the NBA die-hards, lead by Greenie, is how exciting the level of play has been this season.
Despite ratings falling off a cliff, we keep hearing the same buzzwords- exciting, entertaining, competitive.
The Bulls and Hornets shot 28 of 103 from three-point land tonight.
Bulls: 18/60
Hornets: 10/43
They shot 22 of 97 from three the last time they played two weeks ago.
If this is the definition of entertainment, then I'm good with cracking Vol 1. of the Encyclopedia Britannica at the Chicago Public Library instead.
In Greenie's defense, the arena was fucking packed tonight. (Somehow)
And the game was actually close and down to the wire.
I just don't get how somebody sits through that. Watching that many missed attempts is like paying to watch the over 40 league at The East Bank Club.
