Steph Curry's Basketball Witchcraft Has Reached New Levels

The term "must watch" tends to get thrown around a lot, whether it involves TV, movies, sports, clips etc. When that happens, there are times when it doesn't live up to the hype and completely takes advantage of what a true "must watch" should be. That's why around these parts you see bloggers be very careful about when to unleash that claim. You only get so many a year, and if those don't live up to the hype it definitely hurts your credibility in the "must watch" community.

To me, one thing that has always truly lived up to what "must watch" is all about is the play of Steph Curry. He may as well be the poster child for what a true "must watch" looks like, and few athletes on Earth embody it more than Steph. You truly cannot look away. Every single night he steps on the floor there's a chance he's going to some something completely insane that you've never seen before.

Sometimes that means making huge shots in big moments

But other times it means Steph unleashing some sort of basketball witchcraft that you almost can't even believe is real. A move that any mere mortal would not even consider making let alone executing to perfection. But that's why he's Steph Curry and everyone else isn't.

Take this play from the Warriors big win over the Suns last night. I've probably watched this clip 10,000 times and my brain still can't even really comprehend what the hell happened. Genuinely one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen pulled off on an NBA court to the point where the only logical explanation is what something more is at play here

Sorry, I know witchcraft when I see it. I've taken the middle school field trips to Salem, MA which practically makes me an expert.

For starters, you're up against the clock. There's no time to try and take a moment to figure out what to do. You have to just go up the floor while doing it on the fly, and nobody does that better than Steph. To be able to think that quickly and pull off the perfect behind the back dribble move to avoid a reaching KD, all while being mindful of the clock and letting off a right handed push shot/floater with a super quick release to avoid the contesting Oso Ighodaro, and then for that heave to go in is all the confirmation we need that Steph is a Basketball Witch. I mean come on. For a guy that has a billion "must watch" moments, this one might be one of his most impressive.

For every second Steph is on an NBA court, you have to pay attention. How many players can you say that about? Not only is he the entire focus of the defense, but the audience as well. His constant movement, the fact that he's clearly operating some sort of dark basketball magic, his sense of the moment, all of it was on display in that one moment.

The more important thing was the Warriors secured a desperately needed win. They've been sinking like a rock recently so to gut that one out at home after trailing by 10 was big. Some questionable decision making late by Bradley Beal, but whatever. That's not the Warriors problem. They need to get back to stacking as many Ws as possible, and something tells me they're going to need more of that Steph Curry witchcraft to do it.
