Harold Fannin Jr. Set The All-Time Tight End Receiving Record with an 11 Rec, 213 Yds, 1 TD Performance in The 68 Ventures Bowl (Loss) vs Arkansas State

Hell of a way to put a bow on the greatest season in Bowling Green Falcon football history. Some people might say it was the greatest season by a TE in the history of college football. Not the Mackey Award voters. But real ball knowers (i.e. people on Twitter who have the same opinion as me) will tell you he did. But I've given up that fight. Harold Fannin was phenomenal all season long, and he capped it off in perfect Bowling Green Falcon football fashion. It takes a special kind of player to walk into Hancock Whitney Stadium and put up 213 yards receiving yards agaisnt 7-5 Arkansas State Red Wolves at the 68 Ventures Bowl.

And it takes a special type of team to outgain their opponent by 100+ yards, win the turnover battle, and still lose the game. I'm still struggling to figure out how Bowling Green's QB could have thrown for 390 yards of offense last night, and simultaneously be the worst quarterback I've ever seen. But that's aside the point. If anything it just makes Harold Fannin Jr.'s season all the more impressive. The man had over 1,500 receiving yards dealing with shit like this all season long.

The assumption is that Harold Fannin Jr. will now enter the NFL Draft, although he hasn't declared yet. Part of me wants to see him transfer to a National Championship contender and make a little NIL money before heading to the NFL. Not sure how much he could realistically make in NIL for 1 season, but he'd have his choice of school. I'd love to see him come back to Bowling Green as well, but even as a Bowling Green fan, I can't wish that on him. He deserves better.

For me, Harold Fannin Jr. will go down as the greatest Bowling Green Falcon football player of all-time. Never have I had the pleasure of watching a player that talented play for my alma mater. I most likely never will again. Harold Fannin Jr. went from a zero star linebacker recruit out of high school to assaulting the record books as a tight end. You don't see that too often.

And props to Bowling Green, who despite dedicating last night to playing the stupidest, sloppiest brand of football they possibly could, they did pull off a fake punt for the ages. A fake punt that involved changing their 3rd string QB's number and dressing him in disguise.

It was a highly disappointing season in so many ways for Bowling Green, especially after taking both Penn State and Texas A&M down to the wire to start the season. But Harold Fannin Jr. made it worth watching. Thank you Harold Fannin Jr. for bringing the slightest bit of relevancy to my school this year. I'll never forget it.
