'The Batman Part II' Has Been Delayed A Full Year, Now Set To Release In October 2027

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!

Unfortunately our worst fears were realized today, and Matt Reeves' next film: 'The Batman Part II' was delayed a full year to October 2027. I appreciate them waiting til after Christmas to drop this news, to allow us to enjoy the holidays, but it still feels like a knife between the kevlar armor plates....

….or a point-blank shotgun blow to the chest….

There were definitely whispers about this happening over the past few months - considering that Reeves/Gunn openly admitted they didn't even have a completed first draft of the script yet and they were supposed to start shooting in Summer 2025 - but we were all hoping the success of 'The Penguin' and hype train around the sequel would help kick things into overdrive. The people want Battinson and they want him now! Guess it doesn't exactly work like that, though!

Now it sorta makes sense why James Gunn didn't seem concerned about a Clayface movie (which could possibly feature a new Batman?) dropping the month before this was going to….

Reeves is an infamously slow writer, but who knows - some are even now suggesting that it's taking so long to write because Reeves is retooling the story to fit into James Gunn and Peter Safran's DCU.

Initially, we were told Robert Pattinson's Batman would exist in a universe of his own, with no fantastical elements like actual superpowers present, but now there are reports that claim Gunn wants Pattinson alongside his Superman (David Corenswet) as the DC's new Worlds Finest….

….and it doesn't seem like there's any movement on Andy Muschietti's 'The Brave and The Bold' right now….

….like I said - who knows. It's just cruel to deliver a 1-2 punch as good as 'The Batman' and 'The Penguin' only to make us wait until 2027 for the next installment of the saga. Pattinson's gonna be old in the sequel for christ sake! I'm gonna be old! Fuck!

Can we fit another Penguin season in between then and now? Maybe a Gotham P.D. show?! What about an Arkham show?
