There Are Some Amazing Indie Wrestling Gimmicks Right Now: Two Of The Best Are CoKane, Who Loves Coke, And Steven Flowe, A Grunge Rocker Who Comes Out To A Rewritten Version Of Pearl Jam's "Even Flow"
I don't know what it says about my algorithm, but videos of these two guys keep popping up on it the past two weeks and I crack up laughing every time.
And that hasn't happened in regards to wrestling in a long, long time. So I'm taking that as a good thing.
The attitude era, and all the fun in professional wrestling seems long gone. I still go to RAW when it comes to Chicago because there aren't many things as fun as going to a live wrestling event in person. But as far as following along every week and attempting to keep up with the story lines, it's just too much. Too many guys to keep track of, and too many lame schticks. (In my opinion.)
Maybe I need to tune into AEW and follow some of the independent circuits to get that juice I loved from attitude-era WWF?
As much as I love the ridiculousness of this Co-Kane character, I don't think I can bring myself to follow the Juggalo Championship Wrestling or whatever it is he's apart of.
Which one of these guys has the funnier gimmick going?
Listening to the whole entrance song,
and the crowd singing the lyrics is too good. I think Steven Flowe wins.
By a hair.
Just so fucking funny hearing the words ever so slightly changed to an all-timer like "Even Flow" is amazing.
This is what I miss the most about wrestling today. The over-the-top, laugh out loud, comical storylines and characters. Shit so stereotypical/controversial and preposterous that it was pure entertainment. I'm not saying pro wrestling today lacks it, because I honestly don't know and don't follow it really, but there was nothing better or more fun to follow along back in the day.
