The 6 Foot Italian American Hero Returns As The Giants Are Benching Daniel Jones For Tommy DeVito
Just like that, the Daniel Jones Era is officially over with the New York Football Giants. Part of me can't believe it's been six years, part of me can't believe it's not been 600 years. Even as someone that's been trying to hype up Daniel forever, I think everyone saw the writing on the wall because he appeared to be broken this year. I don't know if it was the injuries, becoming shellshocked after years of getting his ass kid, or straight up refusing to make the right throws out of protest. But the player we saw this season was not the guy who looked like the QB of the future as a rookie or even the QB who led the Giants to their only playoff win since Super Bowl XLVI, which for those counting at home was THIRTEEN YEARS AGO.
As someone that covers and watches this god forsaken team, I would love to say I'm excited the Giants are going back to becoming The Italian Meme Team again since it made last year's season from hell fun. But that strategy resulted in too many wins last season that played the Giants out of Drake Maye and/or Jayden Daniels and could do the very same thing again considering they have games coming up against the fellow bottom feeding Saints and the Cowboys.
So no offense to Tommy Cutlets, or his agent who I'm sure we'll be seeing nonstop over the next few weeks. But I need this team to fold like a slice of pizza with extra flawp (said in Portnoy's voice) because the future is so much bigger than the next 1.5 months of forgettable games. I'm sure John Mara does not see the big picture of just flushing this season down the toilet, so I guess I'll start asking college football fans which non-QB's I should be hoping for in the draft.
