'Hey, Get Me The Fucking Ball' - Joe Burrow Breaking Down How Ja'Marr Chase Tells Him He's Open Is Exactly Why Chase Is An Elite WR

I assume this is just every QB talking about a WR1. I say it all the time, but you gotta know how to deal with them, especially when you're talking about an elite WR like Ja'Marr Chase. Dude always thinks he's open, he wants the 15 targets a game at a minimum and will let you and everyone else know about it. The difference is the history with Burrow and Chase. We know all about LSU and the years with the Bengals, but it's rare that a starting QB in the NFL gets one of his top-2 college receivers with him.

Now, it makes even more sense after the Ravens game last week. The offense was basically get it to Ja'Marr Chase, score a touchdown. You can talk about the Bengals line or if Chase Brown can keep the run game going. But really it's just let your two best players dominate. That's what has to happen since the Bengals defense can't stop anyone.

I've said it before, but we need the diva wide receivers in football. Not a knock on Chase by any means, but when we grew up with TO doing situps in his driveway, it's hard to picture wide receivers any other way. It's a mentality. WR1 has to be open every other play. They need to be outspoken. Slot receivers? They just get lit up and sometimes talk about being about the team. WR2 is a mix, but starting to get more vocal. I know Burrow is joking here, but it's really the perfect look into a WR1 and QB relationship.
