The Montage Of Drops From Sunday's Game Proves Even More How Great Jayden Is And How Bad We Need Another Weapon To Compliment Terry
PFT made that above compilation of drops from Sunday's game vs the Steelers and after watching it 18 times I have come to the conclusion that Jayden is even better than we've been giving him credit for. He's a god damn miracle worker for what he's been able to do with this current crop of WRs that he's working with. Besides Terry, nobody else would be above a fringe number 3 on any other team. I love Noah Brown, but not as our #2. Olamide Zaccheaus is a 4 or 5, not a 3. Dyami Brown is still Dyami Brown (bad). Luke McCaffrey has potential, but he's a rookie WR who only played 2 seasons at WR in college, and he played at Rice.
And then there's Zach Ertz. Do not get me started on Zach Ertz. This man has never gotten one single yard after the catch this entire season. Crumbles to the ground at even the sight of a defender. And his drops are inexcusable. For a veteran TE, he plays soft and sort of pathetically (no offense). He also does not run to the sticks in mandatory 1st down situations, it's so frustrating.
But despite all of that, our rookie savior Jayden has been able to get this team to 7-3. The Steelers game shined the unfortunate light on the fact that we are still in a rebuild and roster constructing is not close to being over. The Commies lack a true 2nd weapon to Terry on offense. The running back room is good- BRob and Ekeler, but in terms of getting the ball down the field, the guys behind Terry are not stepping up whatsoever.
The game on Sunday vs Pitt was easily winnable. If Dyami catches the ball in the end zone, win. If Ertz catches the ball on that slant, win. If Noah Brown catches that long 3rd down throw, win. If there was ever a game where you could highlight a team's needs to a T, it was that game. We need another WR, and we need another CB.
So let's talk about the CBs and Benjamin St.-Juste. Commies Twitter is MURDERING St-Juste and I can't get on board with it. BSJ should not be a starting CB, but he's being thrown out there week after week because quite simply, we have no other options. Ron did not build a strong secondary, and drafting Forbes over Christian Gonzalez was a ginormous mistake. So I have to give BSJ credit- he's out there competing, giving 110%. He hasn't quit. It's just had for a guy who has 67/100 talent to be a starter in the NFL. So people should lay off him, it's not his fault he's being given a job he quite simply isn't ready for. But the alternative is even worse, so people need to just accept Ron fucked up drafting and roster building, and it's why they traded for
Marshon Lattimore. If Lattimore can get healthy we immediately have a HUGE upgrade at CB that we desperately need.
I think we are spoiled by Jayden being so good so fast and the rest of the team around him overachieving because of how good the coaching has been. But we have to remember we're still in a rebuild and that it'll take time ant patience. The top priority this offseason should be getting a big time WR and a new TE. Games like the Steelers game will be wins, not losses, once the roster is deeper and more rounded out.
