'Get The Fuck Up' - Dan Hurley And Liam McNeeley Are Starting To Embrace UConn Turning Into College Basketball's Biggest Villains

I remember during last year's March run people asking if UConn would ever turn into the villain of college basketball. It feels like they are starting to get there. They aren't Duke - no one is Duke. They aren't the biggest villains, but they have the perfect asshole mix of Dan Hurley and Liam McNeeley. You have Hurley screaming at fans to get the fuck up against Sacred Heart. No days off when it comes to Hurley.

Then there's McNeeley. The 5-star freshman who is 1) damn good and 2) not afraid to talk his shit:

You know Big East fans ALREADY hate this dude

Now, I'll argue being a villain in college basketball is the best. It means you're winning, you're expected to win and you know how to piss people off. Dan Hurley has done that. I personally love the dude as a coach. He's exactly what the sport needs. We only have a few years left of the guys we grew up with who are still coaching - the Izzo's, Self's, Calipari's, Pitino's, etc. The new group is led by Hurley. He went from revamping UConn to back-to-back titles. Now he's walking around and rightfully so with this air of confidence that we haven't seen in years in this sport.

Quick sidenote - this freshman class is loaded. I highly suggest watching some of these early games if you're a casual fan and typically wait. Just try it out to see some of these guys. What I do know is UConn is embracing the villain mentality and that's good for the game.
