The Bears Are Sellers At The Deadline

Oh Chief, this doesn't mean they're sellers. He's only got 8 carries on the year.

Yeah, no shit. He's not integral to the game plan week to week, BUT...if something happened to Swift he would be in the rotation. He would be important. I understand that his contract is expiring after this year and running backs are replaceable. My point is that if the Bears were 6-2 they wouldn't be selling off a potentially important depth piece as they push towards the playoffs. If you're not competing, which they CLEARLY aren't, then what is the point of keeping a guy on an expiring deal? Get what you can get while you can.

Which is why I am also in favor of trading Keenan Allen. He hasn't been super impactful, but you can say that for literally every player on offense. He's older. He needs a new contract and he's currently the Bears 2nd highest paid player behind Sweat. I have a hard time imaging the Bears aggressively trying to sign him to an extension at this point. So explore the market. If you can get a 4th or something just do it. The Bears aren't going anywhere this year. The roster and offensive line clearly needs improvement. Adding an extra pick can help you address that. Pack it in. Fold it up. It's mock draft season.
