Horrible News: After 15 Years, Revolution Brewing Will Close It's Famous Logan Square Brewpub

FOX CHICAGO - Illinois' largest independent craft brewery will close one of its Chicago locations next month.

Revolution Brewing announced Saturday that it will be closing its Logan Square brewpub on Dec. 14. The brewery opened its doors on Milwaukee Avenue in 2010, serving iconic beers like Anti-Hero IPA and growing the craft beer community.

The brewpub hosted weddings, fundraisers, and Oktoberfest celebrations, becoming a beloved neighborhood spot.

However, the rise of craft beer competition and the impact of the pandemic forced the brewery to make a difficult decision. Despite efforts to adapt, the brewpub has experienced a decline in business.

Really sad news out of Logan Square. Especially if you like good food and delicious cold beer and supporting local business and generally enjoying a neighborhood classic location with friends. If any/all of that sounds appetizing, then this is sad and bad news that could easily be blamed on Brandon Johnson's abject ineptitude. There's really no other explanation although this guy on instagram does a pretty good job

Worst case scenario has been avoided, which is the complete shutdown of Revolution Brewery. My knee jerk reaction went down that path and it made me upset because the Anti Hero IPA is delicious. So is their Oktoberfest, Fistmas Christmas Ale, the Eugene Porter and even the Hazy Hero tickles my buds despite the market being way oversaturated with hazy everything. Point remains: Revolution makes a bunch of great beers and they're going to keep making those beers.

It just sucks that to lose their premier location in a somehow-still-developing part of an extremely old neighborhood. Because let there be no doubt - going out in Logan Square is part of your maturity process living in Chicago. And this was basically the safest spot for guys like you and me to start venturing into Chicago's epicenter of weird bars and people. So far past your traditional Wicker Park hipster fare that I can't really do Logan Square justice. Probably the easiest place in Chicago to get laid while still being one of the last places you want to get some strange ass. The duality of being easy and risky is never more present than it is in Logan Square.

Mix in affordable rents, decent public transit and a carousel of newly-opened restaraunts and ordinaries, then you got yourself a solid young-adult neighborhood.

Is it Jefferson Park or Edison Park or Roscoe Village? Absolutely not and don't ask another stupid question like that.

It is however, a special and unique place to a lot of people around Chicago, and now it's losing one of the flagship destinations that allows normal people to more generally enjoy the scene. So that fucking blows and again, I want to blame this one squarely on Brandon Johnson and his dogshit administration. How/why is worth another blog so let me just say now that he sucks.

Good news is that Revolution will still be open for the next 6 weeks. So if this bothers you like it does me, then maybe go get yourself a nice meal and couple tall drafts. Personally I think it's one of the better spots to start a non-traditional date in Chicago:

You start with a solid meal. You get to see how your date interacts with delicious beer. You're probably there for 75-90 minutes max and then you have a number of options within immediate walking distance. There's weird bars and "clubs" if you want to pivot to weird stuff. There's fancy cocktail lounges and unique experiences. There's late night pizza and authentic Mexican if the date goes well. There's also very few regular guys planning a night around Logan Square, so you get to stand out amongst other potential suitors. You're also going to be around some weirdos which can only make you look more normal and thus appealing. And then it's unique enough that she can tell her friends after

So we actually went out in Logan Square and it was like actually pretty fun like for real I had no idea

And then her friends will be jealous (or at least intrigued) because the guy they're blowing is named Steve and lives in West Loop and does medical sales and hasn't asked a decent question in 6 months much less ever touched the right part of her puss. So you'll get a lot of bonus points that typically go unaccounted for just by planning a date in Logan Square. Because Steve is actually lame.

That's kinda how I see this news about Revolution closing this location. Like it obviously sucks but there's still an opportunity for you to take advantage of Logan Square, which I personally can't recommend enough.
