After Three Straight Winless Premier League Matches, Arsenal Lose Edu Gaspar

Edu Gaspar, Arsenal’s very own Brazilian maestro behind the scenes, has officially bid farewell to the Emirates. Appointed in July 2019, Edu has spent the last few years reshaping Arsenal into a Premier League powerhouse alongside Mikel Arteta, the man he managed to lure from the comforting clutches of Manchester City. Edu’s exit feels like one of those breakups that came out of nowhere—the couple seemed happy, they had big plans, and then boom, turns out the groom had a side piece.

OFFICIAL: Edu leaves Arsenal: “Now it is time to pursue a different challenge”. “Arsenal will always remain in my heart. “This was an incredibly hard decision to make”. “Arsenal has given me the opportunity to work with so many amazing people and the chance to be a part of something so special in the club’s history. It has been a special journey and I thank Stan, Josh, Tim and Lord Harris for the support they’ve given me”. “I’ve loved working with so many great colleagues across our men’s, women’s and academy teams, especially Mikel, who has become a great friend”. “I wish the club and its supporters only good things and all the very best”.

Now, Edu isn’t just leaving for some shmuck job. He's joining Evangelos Marinakis’ portfolio of European clubs. For context, Marinakis owns Nottingham Forest, Olympiacos, and Rio Ave, and he’s not stopping there; he wants to collect European clubs like a kid collects Pokémon. For Edu, the chance to be part of a multi-club setup is like being one of those princes who can have multiple wives and unlimited side pieces. But for Arsenal, his departure feels like when a guy finally finds a barber who can cover up his receding hairline but now is moving to another state. Edu’s fingerprints are all over Arsenal's success, so the question is: who will take the baton and run with it?

If Arteta was the conductor on the pitch, Edu was the orchestra director behind the scenes, making sure every note hit just right. He helped turn Arsenal into more than just a club fighting for relevance; under his guidance, they became genuine Premier League title contenders, Champions League regulars, and let’s be real—fun to watch again.

So here we are—Edu’s off to new adventures, Arsenal’s left with a gaping hole, and fans are left wondering, “Who’s next?” Arteta and the board now need someone else to share the dream of Premier League glory and European triumph. It’s the end of an era, but as Arsenal fans know, the rollercoaster ride rarely comes to a full stop.

Arsenal are winless in their last three Premier League games, and now, in American terms, they no longer have a GM. Maybe Edu’s successor will bring fresh ideas, a new vision, or at the very least, a proper striker. In the meantime, we’ll all just have to sit back and see where this wild ride takes us next.
