Was Dave Roberts Fuckin Kidding Me With His "Everybody Counted Us Out" Comments In Last Night's Post Game?

(Start at the 3:35 mark)

I heard this comment last night and swore my ears were deceiving me. Talk about a baseless statement.

Highest payroll in baseball, a roster overflowing with MVPs, and he's whining about people counting them out? Spare me the violins, Dave. You're managing a juggernaut, not some scrappy underdog.

I obviously love Dave Roberts and all that he did to help break the curse in 2004. All time legend. Forever a Red Sox hero. But as Dodgers manager? Absolutely insufferable. Always has been. But last night might have taken the cake.

This whole "nobody believed in us" narrative is an insult to every team battling with a fraction of your resources. It's disrespectful to fans who empty their wallets to watch your team dominate.  Just own your success and stop with the phony underdog routine.

Look, I get it. Every team faces challenges. But let's not pretend the Dodgers were ever the underdogs. They were the favorites from the get-go, and they played like it.

Trying to act as if this was some over-achieving, small-market team, who overcame obstacles to achieve victory is a wild thing to speak out loud. Especially when you are managing the most perfect baseball player who's ever lived (or been created in a lab) in Ohtani. The guy hitting behind him is arguably the second best player in the league, the ultimate 5-tool player, and beloved teammate in Mookie Betts. And the guy hitting behind him, Freddie Freeman, just had one of the greatest World Series performances of all-time, hitting like a fucking machine. There are 29 other teams in the league who would clear their rosters in a heartbeat for any of those guys if they could actually afford them.

So Dave, next time you're celebrating with champagne showers, spare us the sob story. Just enjoy the damn win and give credit where it's due.
