Freddie Freeman Takes Home The World Series MVP As The Dodgers Comeback Down 5-0 After An Unreal Yankee Collapse And Win The 2024 World Series!

Yankee haters rejoice! The good guys won the war!!! Never a doubt that the Dodgers would bring it home for the other 28 fanbases rooting against these guys, what a series by the boys in blue. A little hiccup last night, it was just enough to give the Yankees and their fans some hope. They were talking about "don't let us win 1" after they all watched the 2004 Sox documentary, they were foolish to think they'd win more than that. Jack Flaherty gave everyone a scare after some monster bombs from Aaron Judge, Jazz and Giancarlo gave the Yankees a 5-0 lead VERY quick and it looked like we'd be heading back to Los Angeles for game 6 on Friday. I mean you don't come back on the road down 5-0 with Gerrit Cole on the mound in the 5th inning right? RIGHT?!

WRONG. The 5th inning of game 5 may go down as my favorite inning in baseball history. Easily one of the ugliest innings you have ever seen, I've truly never seen anything like it. Wait, I have. I saw a team play like this in my daughter's softball game 3 weeks ago, just booting the ball all around the field. New York had played nearly perfect up to that point and had Los Angeles on the ropes with doubt creeping into their minds and then they puked all over themselves. Like all down their shirt, got on their shoes, they slipped in it, it was a whole thing.

First you had Aaron Judge making his FIRST ERROR OF THE SEASON. Hadn't made one all year and he drops a ball right to him. I get it, the balls hit right at you are the hardest but this is a routine catch. He flat out drops it and this is where the fun started. Error #1 on the night. Then you had Anthony Volpe made a bad throw to third for an error to load the bases with no outs. Cole sacked up and got 2 Ks including Shohei Ohtani who was really a non-factor this series, especially after his shoulder injury. It really looked like Cole earned his money and was going to get out of the inning unscathed.

Mookie Betts hits a cue ball down to first and it seems like a routine play at first, but nothing with the Yankees defense is routine. Gerrit Cole just….didn't cover first. He pointed it at like Anthony Rizzo didn't know what he was looking at, he pointed! He didn't cover, he pointed. I mean how many times has Cole ran through this play in practices, camps, games, spring training? I mean it's the most routine play you can make as a pitcher, you cover that base! I'm not sure why Rizzo wasn't really hustling over there too but my god, you can't not make that play. That's laziness by Cole, in the biggest moment of his baseball career, in an elimination game. No excuse by Cole not to make that play. What's the worst thing that happens if he hustles over there, Rizzo waves him off? A massive brain fart by Cole that really just sums up this Yankees team. They have low baseball IQ, it seems like if they have a chance to screw something up, they will. If they can mis-read a situation and run into an out, they will. If they can make base running mistakes, they will. It was a theme with this team all year long, not making the correct plays and it came back to bite them in the ass in game 5 and cost them a chance to go to game 6.

The innings stays alive and the Dodgers get on the board right before Freddie Freeman continues his reign of terror on the Yankees. 2-run single for him to all but lock up the World Series MVP, and then Teoscar Hernandez goes to the wall to drive in 2 more and tie it up. Not to mention that all 5 runs were scored with 2 outs, the Yankees were THIS close to getting out of it, so damn close.

Giancarlo would hit a sac fly in the bottom of the 6th to put the Yankees up but the Dodgers would claw their way back in the 8th with Gavin Lux and Mookie Betts both hitting sac flies to tie the game and then eventually put the Dodgers on top for good. We also got Ohtani on base via catchers interference for the Yankees third error of the night. It's unreal how the baseball gods will not let you get away with errors in October. They will come back to bite you in the ass, that is undeniable.

Blake Trinen was fantastic out of the Dodgers bullpen, 2 1/3rd innings, 42 pitches 1 hit, 1 walk, 3 Ks including Anthony Rizzo to end the 8th with Judge on 2nd and Jazz on 1st. What a way to suck the soul right out of these goombahs. He even got a mound visit from Dave Roberts before the Rizzo at-bat where Roberts told him he had enough to handle Rizzo. Big boy appearance by Blake. And how about Walker fucking Buehler and his massive nuts? The man has been who injury hell and fought back to take the mound in the bottom of the 9th and boy did he make quick work of the bottom of the lineup. Groundout, K, K and Juan Soto in what could be his last game as a Yankee on-deck to end it, goodnight New York! Play Frank!. Incredible performance by that Dodger bullpen, they won LA this game and series. 7-6 Dodges win in what capped off a really fun series for baseball.

The ultimate hate watch was successful, all of twitter joining forces to root against these Yankees and boy did we have a good time doing it. Orioles fans, Mets fans, Dodgers fans,Red Sox fans, Astros fans, everyone joined forces to combine our power to bring the Yankees down yet again. Fox can't be happy this series didn't go at least 6, they wanted a little more juice out of these guys. But one guy who had all the juice, Mr. Freeman.

This man went through hell this season, with everything going on with his son being on a ventilator in the ICU, playing through all sorts of injuries, an ankle he probably shouldn't be walking on, the fact that he was able to do what he did was incredible. Started in game 1 with the walk-off grand slam and didn't look back. Slashed .300/.364/1.000 to go along with 4 bombs and 12 driven in, all on basically one ankle. Well deserved MVP and 2nd World Series trophy for Freddie. It really was Freddie, Mookie and Teoscar who did the damage for LA, nothing from Shohei after his injury but the thing about the Dodgers is they just have so much depth. No easy outs in that lineup, not 1 spot where you can take an AB off, they just grind you down with these ABs. And they had SO MANY guys hurt, so many pitchers down and out and they had the depth and the arms to still make it work, this team is a well oiled machine and they really don't have a weakness. Oh yeah, and Ohtani is going to pitch next year. They just got better.

Gotta show love to Meek too, he gutted it out in the gambling cave with the Yankee boys and Mike Francesa, guy held his own all series and provided some incredible moments.

We got the dream World Series and it ended exactly how 98% of the country wanted, Yankee tears. Dodgers were the better team and flat out just played better, they deserved it. We can retire out "Mickey Mouse Ring" jokes now, they earned a real one boys. Free agency starts Monday but I think us Yankee haters are going to enjoy this one for a few more days until the off-season starts. Congrats to MY LA Dodgers.
