Psycho Joe Mazzulla Wants To Bring Fighting Back To The NBA Because Of Course He Does

You know, there's been a lot of chatter recently about how the NBA needs to change their rules, mostly because some out there feel like the Boston Celtics are ruining the entire sport of basketball with their dominance. As if it's their fault no other team builds their roster like Brad Stevens and no other team seems all that capable of handling Mazzulla Ball. It's all truly based in jealousy and it's coming mostly from the very same people who couldn't help themselves and picked against the Celtics during their run last season only for all that shit to age terribly.

Having said that, I'm not someone who is against all rule changes, as sometimes I think change can be good. For example, the change this year where officials can expand reviews to include fouls that weren't called but may have been the reason a ball went out of bounds? That's a good idea. Changing the value of a 2pt shot or changing what teams are allowed to do from deep is some loser shit. Play better defense and stop crying.

But if we're going to entertain the idea of changing the rules in the NBA, how about we listen to Joe Mazzulla?

“The biggest thing that we rob people of, from an entertainment standpoint, is you can’t fight any more. I wish you could bring back fighting … what’s more entertaining than a little scuffle? … How come in baseball, they’re allowed to clear benches? … Every time someone gets clubbed [in the NBA], you don’t need to go to the monitor to see if a misdemeanor has been committed … I just don’t get why some sports are allowed to clear the benches. They have bats and weapons, we don’t. We just have a ball. The other sport has one of the hardest surfaces and playing instrument in pucks and sticks and we’re not allowed to throw down a little bit?"

Right again Joe!

It remains very funny to me that there is all this crying about 3P shooting (because of what the Celtics are doing) and how those rules need to be changed and the only thing the actual head coach of the Celtics wants to change is the ability to be able to fight during games. If that isn't the most Joe Mazzulla idea of all time I'm not sure what is. He's a Basketball Psycho for a reason, and the best part of course is none of this is an act. This is as genuine as genuine gets.

Aside from his love of ju-jitsu, you have to remember who we are dealing with here. This is a guy who had to be held back by his own players because he was ready to throw down in Year 1 as the head coach

So it's not like Joe Mazzulla is talking the talk and then won't walk the walk. He's begging to be allowed to fight, and you know what? I can sort of see his point. Obviously things aren't allowed given what happened with the Malice In The Palace, and because the crowds are so close there's always potential for disaster. But I'll tell you this, as long as the players all agree to keep things on the court and between themselves, I say give them some wiggle room. Enough of the "HOOOOOLLLLLDDDD MMEEEEEE BAAAACKKK" bullshit and let's bring back the physicality of the 90s.

He has the highest winning percentage in NBA history, he's the youngest NBA head coach to win a title in NBA history, and he's the only coach I can think of who openly wants the NBA to stop being soft and let players duke it out on the floor when the situation calls for it. If that doesn't make you a Joe Mazzulla fan, I dunno what to tell ya. He's The Chosen One, and that gets confirmed pretty much every time his team plays and every time he opens his mouth.
