The Yankees Have Officially Turned To God (Sort Of) To Help Them Out Of An 0-2 Hole

NY Post - Give the Yankees strength, Lord.

The Bronx Bombers’ dire 0-2 World Series deficit prompted a cheeky plea for prayers from New York Archbishop Timothy Cardinal Dolan and other local religious leaders.

Dolan closed Sunday mass in St. Patrick’s Cathedral by pointing out to parishioners that Monday is the Feast of St. Jude, “the patron saint of impossible causes.”

“His shrine is in the very back there,” he said, gesturing to the back, “if you want to light a candle for the Yankees — because it’s not looking too good.”

This is so textbook it's scary. Growing up an Irish Catholic it was routine to attend mass on a Sunday. I'll be honest most of the speeches or homily's by the priest I tuned out. Maybe you would pick up the jist of what he was saying but overall it was more of a cliffnotes type thing. That is until every once in a while the priest would touch on current events, or if you were really lucky sports. Those homily's I remember in great detail. It was always a peel behind the curtain that these men in a robe can be a real person, which is a rarity in religion. It feels like these guys always had a stone wall up into their personal lives, so when they admitted to being a real human for a second it was amazing.

And now the Yankees are so desperate they called out one of the biggest swinging dicks in the church to try and sway the momentum back to The Bronx Bombers. This ain't some regular old priest just mentioning Boone's bad decisions, this Cardinal Dolan. Now you know it's serious. All these tank top and gold chain, names on the back of the jersey goomba Yankee fans are so desperate they are rationalizing 'Of course the series ain't over we got that Cardinal praying for us." And that makes me jump for joy. Growing up watching these over confident Yankee fans dance on my face every year growing up, no amount of losing by them will make me happy enough, no amount of sweat from their fans will make me happy enough. As a Mets fan we may never reach the pinnacle of happiness in my lifetime but at least I will have Yankee losses to make me feel a little better, and nothing is better than watching them so desperate Cardinal Dolan is calling in favors to the man above.
