Even If You Have No Dog In This World Series, You Would Be A FOOL Not To Be Excited About This Matchup

October classic, there's nothing like it (I wouldn't know, I was born 6 years after the Orioles last appearance in it). It really does feel like yesterday that pitchers and catchers were reporting to Florida and Arizona and now we got guys in turtlenecks getting ready for the World Series. I don't think it's a shock to anyone that the 2 teams that will meet were basically the 2 best teams all season long. We get this historic matchup between arguably the 2 most famous in baseball, the Dodgers and the Yankees. Everyone knows the logos, the former players, the uniforms, these 2 teams are baseball. Which is why I am BLOWN AWAY by some of the takes I see on Twitter everyday from folks complaining about the matchup.

I'm about as unbiased as they come, I've never said a negative thing about either one of these teams and even I'm hyped up for this. This is the meeting of 2 mega Goliaths with no one else in their paths. We've been praying and wishing for a matchup like this. Look me in the eye and tell me you enjoyed Texas vs Arizona last year, you didn't. Sure, their stories on how they got there were good, but this is next level shit. The Yankees vs the Dodgers in the World Series? Who wouldn't want that? Championship series should be the 2 best teams from the respective leagues/divisions/conferences, sure we love a good "come out of nowhere" story like Arizona last year, but more times than not those matchups stink. This matchup is baseball porn, it's exactly what we want (if your team isn't in it).

"Well they spend too much money, I hate it!"

Give me a break, isn't that what you want your owner to do? Why are people complaining about that? I don't know about you, but I'd like my team to win. Spending money usually helps that, not all the time, but most of the time. Why would you not want an owner to spend money that isn't yours? I'd love if my team's owner wanted to throw $700 Million at Shohei Ohtani or Juan Soto, flags fly forever baby. No one cares how much an owner spent, I don't understand the argument where people think this is a bad outcome. These teams have incredible star power on them, it's like an All-Star team. Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodon, Gleyber Torres, Anthony Rizzo, Giancarlo Stanton, Jazz Chisholm, Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani, Teoscar Hernandez, Max Muncy, Walker Buehler, Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, Yoshinobu Yamamoto. I mean look at that list, it's an incredible amount of talent, why would we as baseball fans not want to watch this? Shohei vs Judge? Mookie and Soto? You kidding me? 5 different players who have won MVPs all on the same field, 2 different guys who hit 50 bombs this season, it's going to be a bad series to be a baseball.

People who are actually upset at this really aren't baseball fans, I truly do not care how teams acquire their talent, I want my team to do every single thing possible to get the best roster they can. Two titans meeting like this is great for the sport, if you think the opposite than I don't know if this sport is for you. We got the fun, "who could have seen this coming" matchup last year, it was a snooze fest. Give me these 2 monsters going blow for blow in 7 games. We have what, 3 of the top 5 players in baseball playing in this series? Shove this star power so far down my throat, this will be great for the game of baseball. We talk non-stop about how baseball can't get out of their way when it comes to marketing, well they don't have a choice now.

NBA fans for years complained and commented on how much it sucked that we never got the Kobe/Lebron finals matchup, we have that in MLB! What is there to complain about there? Starpower is off the charts yet some folks don't want to watch because these teams spent a lot of money for guys, what happened to the game I love?

The ratings will be insane, absolutely insane. This is the mega series that MLB has been hoping we'd get for years, and they get it on the heels of a World Series that didn't do so well in the ratings. If they wanted a rebound, this was the perfect one to get. Best possible outcome for baseball was this matchup, and in what was a down year across the board for all teams, these 2 teams were playing incredible baseball all October so they are hitting their stride at the perfect time. It does suck we got a full work week off from games, that seems like the ball was dropped there. According to Statista.com the 2023 World Series averaged 9.1 Million viewers, not great! This series should demolish those records, especially with a Friday night start. Just the Ohtani impact alone will be massive when it comes to the ratings. If this series goes beyond 5 games it's going to be a classic, ratings will be insane here. MLB was drooling when they saw these 2 were on a collision course.

Plus, there's a chance the Yankees lose! How could you not want to watch that? Watching Ohtani celebrate a World Series title while Judge is left empty handed? Yeah, sign me up for that. That is what all baseball fans can get behind. If your team is not in this series you 1,000% should be rooting for LA. Anytime there's a chance to watch the pinstriped dorks lose you have to be in favor of it. (I will take this part out if the Yankees win the series)

This should be the best World Series we've seen in sometime, a matchup that we have all been waiting on for years. I think Big Cat said it on PMT but these 2 have been circling each other for a while and haven't been able to meet up in October. Dodgers have been there a few times and won it all in 2020 while the Yankees haven't been able to get over the ALCS hump. Well they finally did and now we get the dream matchup. We could be on the cusp of an all time series here folks, good time to be a baseball fan. Either Judge gets his first ring or Ohtani gets his first ring. Either Soto adds to his trophy case or Mookie gets to. Either Cole finally gets his ring or Yamamoto gets one in his rookie year. We've got an all timer on our hands here and we're very lucky to actually see it. We really don't get classic matchups like this in the finals for sports anymore, but we got it this year. Baseball is ending the season on a high note. The fans who say they won't watch because of the matchup are braindead, makes no sense why you wouldn't want to watch these 2 go at it for 7.
