The Sandwich I Got For Lunch Is Taking The World By Storm

Today is Grandpa Della Bella Day. If you're not aware, because Grandpa Della Bella wasn't YOUR grandfather, Grandpa Della Bella was my grandfather. I didn't have the pleasure of getting to know him, because he passed when I was just a baby, but from everything I've heard - he was the absolute man. He loved his family, he loved the New York Giants, and he loved his Italian heritage.

Grandpa Della Bella in all his glory

We celebrate 'Grandpa Della Bella Day' every year on the day he passed, and today my lovely mother sent everyone in the family a little Venmo to get ourselves something nice in honor of the big man. I decided to use my Venmo to get my favorite sandwich in the city - the Prime Rib from Eataly.

It's a $30 sandwich with nothing but meat and bread, which may sound absurd (especially for those not from NYC) but every single time I've gotten it, I've found it was EXTREMELY worth it. It truly always lives up to the hype; the fresh bread, the buttery soft prime rib, it's insane. It melts in your mouth.

Today I tweeted a photo of the sandwich to give the little mom and pop shop that is 'Eataly' some shine, and it's taken the internet by storm….

Never in a million years did I expect the response. I don't know if I've ever even made a piece of content that has gotten so much love before. It's like I discovered Prime Rib. I mean, hell, I'm sitting here blogging about the sandwich I just ate….and you're still reading it!!!

It felt necessary after everyone in the company took turns coming over to my desk for a glimpse at this monster, though, and those who aren't in HQ3 went out of their way to quote tweet/respond to it. Sometimes all it takes to bring this world together is a great looking sandwich.

Happy Grandpa Della Bella Day!

P.S. Glenny and Hubbs also came with me today, and Hubbs got the Prime Rib with me…..but Glenny got a whole chicken. He put a full god damn bird down at his desk today. Ridiculous move but I couldn't respect it more.
