Dan Hurley, Still A Lunatic - Wanted To Throw Up Over A 27-Point Charity Game Win And Called Out The AP Poll For Basically Disrespecting UConn

The college basketball nerd in me loves that these preseason exhibition games are now becoming like regular preseason games. We're getting them on TV which is smart. More games on TV, the better. Last night we had UConn vs URI in a charity game. I'm not going to complain about watching college basketball in October, not now, not ever. But this is more than that.

This is just about Dan Hurley, who hasn't lost a step. You think he cares it's the preseason? Absolutely not. He's got to figure shit out and be ready for March. That's why he's going to get pissed off with a 4 point lead at halftime in a game that doesn't matter.

I still don't understand the comparison to Kendall Roy, but, sure, why not? Hurley has earned the respect to just blindly agree with what he says. It's probably going to turn out right anyways so if he wants to be Kendall Roy, that's who he is.

Then there's the AP poll comment. This I agree with more than anything else. I say it all the time, the AP poll is meaningless. It has no impact on the Tournament, it has no impact on seeding or anything else. It's just for fans to yell about. But why the fuck is UConn not number 1? They are coming off back-to-back titles, kept Hurley and still have a loaded team. Just rank them number 1 so we don't have to listen to Hurley yelling about it and using it as a talking point all year. I don't care if you think Houston or Kansas or Alabama might be better than UConn, just rank them 1 in the preseason until they lose.

I'll keep saying it. Guys like Hurley are good for college basketball. We know programs by coaches. The more coaches we have who have a personality and can give us some actual quotes besides normal bullshit is fine by me. The sport is built on villains and underdogs, keeping guys like Hurley around makes more people aware of the sport. Couple weeks to go until it all matters.
