It's Time To Bring Davante Adams To The New York Jets....But Can It Logistically Happen?

Today may have been the final straw for Davante Adams marriage with the Oakland Raiders. Antonio Pierce's comments were clearly pointed at someone after the game and I would not be shocked if that someone wears #17.

The Jets are clearly an all in football team. You don't bring Aaron Rodgers in without that being your plan. Do I think they have a Super Bowl team at this moment? No, but they may not be too far away from it and a huge addition like Davante Adams would certainly help.

The relationship between Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams is widely documented.

What would it take to pull the trade off? Probably not a lot of assets, because of how much his contract is worth. This season the Raiders cap hit for Davante Adams is $25,000,000, with the season already starting, the Jets can fit that in (they currently have $18,000,000 in room thanks to Reddick). The BIG jump comes next season when Adams is due $44,500,000. The Jets currently have $87,000,000 in cap space for next season, the 4th most in the league. With that much room to play with, the Jets could get on the phone and negotiate with the Raiders tomorrow if they'd like.

Ultimately, I trust Joe Douglas. He's been a really great GM for the Jets and has made some phenomenal moves.

There's a lot that goes into the cap that I do not understand, but from the outside looking in, the Jets can make this move. Bringing Davante in would not just be for this season, either. He is clearly still an elite WR and Rodgers looks like he will be around for 2025 as well.

Offense wins championships in the modern style of football.

RB: Breece Hall, Braelon Allen

WR 1: Garrett Wilson

WR 2: Davante Adams

WR 3: Allen Lazard

WR 4: Mike Williams

TE: Tyler Conklin

All led by Perc Rodgers at QB?!

That is a team that can make some serious noise.
