Oh, Good! Everything Is Going Great! Jalin Hyatt Reportedly Told The Giants To Trade Him In The Summer If They Weren't Going To Use Him (He Has 1 Target)
[Source] - There was a moment late in the summer when it appeared this might go sideways. Unhappy with the situation, Hyatt said during practice that if the Giants weren't going to use him, they should trade him, multiple team sources told ESPN.
That does not appear it will happen. Hyatt is still in their plans.
Oh, good. Wonderful. Nothing like this report coming out before week 3 and it sums up the Giants perfectly. Jalin Hyatt should be a weapon. We traded up to get him a mere year ago yet here we are with Hyatt getting 1 target through 2 games and basically getting a light jog in during games. It makes no damn sense, except for the fact Daniel Jones refuses to throw a deep ball too. It's not like he can't play, the one game in his rookie year he actually got some touches he went for 109 against the Pats.
Now to Hyatt's credit everything in the report says he's handling it like a pro. He's locked in during practice, he's doing the drills, just waiting his time. But it makes no goddamn sense. I don't really get why Darius Slayton is playing over him. Go with three young guys who all provide something different in Hyatt, Robinson and Nabers. Do something explosive on offense at least once, especially when the offensive line has been fine this year. We haven't been able to say that since about 2011, but the line has been more than fine.
No one is saying Hyatt is going to be an all-pro or anything like that. But he has talent. He has something a team can use. Just use it! Use it more than once over two games, seems pretty simple here. Don't talk about how great he is and how close you are, play the guy!
Again, I don't ask for much. I just want a week where we don't have some story out there talking about this shitshow. It's everyone and everywhere. You don't trade up to draft a guy who is supposed to be a weapon and then bench him, especially when he's not out there dropping everything.
