But the Young Thug case is mad complex, involving multiple defendants and RICO charges. The prosecution initially planned to call 700 witnesses, then reduced to 400, which has slowed progress. Procedural issues, including a nearly year-long jury selection process and tensions between the defense and Judge Ural Glanville, have caused further delays. In July 2024, Judge Glanville was removed from the case following accusations of misconduct related to a private meeting with prosecutors and a key witness. The case has been reassigned to Judge Shukura Ingram, causing additional setbacks. Resource constraints in Fulton County's court system have also impacted the trial's timeline. As of May 2024, only about 60 of the planned 150 state witnesses had testified, indicating that the trial was far from completion. These factors combined have resulted in one of the longest trials in Georgia's history, with no clear end in sight. Would hate to be a juror on the case.
