You Will Not Find a Dumber Play In Baseball All Year Than Victor Robles Trying To Steal Home On a 3-0 Count With The Bases Loaded

What just happened in the Yankees-Mariners game will without a doubt be the dumbest thing you see on a baseball field this year. The decision making pales in comparison to that Pirates defensive brain fart with Javy Baez a few years ago.

A little context for ya: Luis Gil had completely lost the strike zone in the first inning against Seattle tonight. Following 15 balls, 9 strikes, two walks and a hit by pitch, the bases were loaded for Justin Turner. The count immediately jumped to 3-0 as Gil continued to struggle. If Turner simply stood there with his bat on his shoulder for the next three pitches it was almost a certainty the Mariners would score a run. Just stand there. Well, Victor Robles over at 3rd base had other ideas.

Just a complete brain dead move by Robles. Sure Gil turned his back to the plate which is always a no-no with a man on 3rd, but realize the game situation man. Stealing home with the bases loaded is bad enough, but on a 3-0 count? What did I just watch? It's something you do accidentally in MLB the Show after hitting the wrong button. Can't even imagine how pissed and confused Justin Turner was having the bat ripped from him there. Also incredible how Gil couldn't find the zone to save his life during that inning, but in a split second threw it right where it needed to be so Wells could tag out Robles. That's baseball, Suzyn.

P.S. That inning is exactly what terrifies me of starting Luis Gil in a postseason game. Incredible stuff. Practically un-hittable at times, but boy does he lost his control too often.

P.P.S. The Javy Baez play
