Biggest Bust In NFL History? A Day After Head Coach Dave Canales Said He's Their Quarterback, The Panthers Are Benching Bryce Young To Try And Save Their Season

Bryce Young may very well be the biggest bust in NFL history. JaMarcus Russell is sitting at home smiling. After the Panthers first game of the season I said the Panthers-Young trade was tracking to be the worst trade in the sport's time. Deshaun Watson? Herschel Walker? They don't hold a candle to this disaster.

It's stunning how much they gave up to get the pick. The more you read the worse it gets. The haul seems never-ending. After yesterday's loss Carolina's head coach said he was sticking with Bryce Young and reiterated he is their quarterback.

Bryce Young said his confidence was in the Lord. Never wanna hear your struggling player say that.

Less than 24 hours later they pulled the plug. The Lord visited Canales in his sleep and convinced him to save his boy from further embarrassment.

It's gotten so bad with Bryce Young that the longer you keep throwing him out there you not only destroy his confidence but risk losing your locker room of players. You currently have zero chance with that guy out there. In his 18 games so far, he's yet to have one must-watch moment where you say "wow that's the number one pick" in a good way. It's so bad you can't even tell what your skill position guys are capable of because of how little he's able to give you.

Interesting move to bench your number one overall pick from a year ago and still say he's your quarterback, a day before you said he wasn't getting benched. Sure that'll help him keep his confidence! I guess it's just a mental reset, but what happens if Dalton makes the offense look competent over the next week or two? How do you go back? More importantly, how did they love Bryce Young enough to not only give up a historical king's ransom for him, but also decide he's the better fit over CJ Stroud? How was that possible? Fire every single evaluator you employ. The Carolina Panthers baby. A perennial dumpster fire of an organization who will make you feel better about your own team.

P.S. The only positive Young has going for him is that both Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold struggled mightily in Carolina, looking like their careers were over, only to move onto a new home and find rejuvenation elsewhere. Bryce Young may just suck, but Carolina seems impossible to succeed to begin with.

P.P.S. It's truly remarkable to think how bad Joe Barry was as a Packers defensive coordinator. He allowed Young to throw for over 300 yards, two touchdowns, and zero picks in their game. Next level incompetence. Thank god he's gone.
