Turns Out Caleb Williams is a Liar - After Telling Punter Tory Taylor He Won't Be Needed Too Much This Year, The Bears Have Already Punted 12 Times

There was a ton of buzz and hype surrounding quarterback Caleb Williams entering his rookie season, and rightfully so. He constantly made defenses look silly when he was at Oklahoma and USC. The Bears haven't had a competent quarterback in years, and even then Jay Cutler's ceiling was only so high. Caleb gives them a chance to be special.

In the midst of being dubbed the chosen one, Williams texted rookie punter Tory Taylor that he wouldn't have to punt this year. Little cocky before you take a snap, no?

Well, we're two games in let's see the early returns.

Not great. Everyone is saying it, but this dude absolutely thinks this is still USC playing Arizona State. Great to escape the initial blitz, but that throw just can't happen.

Almost every read Caleb made last night was the wrong one. Every decision he went with ended up in disaster.

Now to be fair to him, the Bears offensive line is a legitimate joke. It was a turnstile for the Texans front 7 all night long. Chief already said this, but the fact that Poles thought this group was good enough to protect him is insane. Doesn't help that Williams has the wrong clock in his head and thinks he has way more time than he actually does. Also can't out-run the big guys in the NFL when they're just as fast as you. Trial by fire it seems is going to be his learning process.

The Bears defense is elite, however, and kept them in the game. As bad as he played, Caleb had a chance to win it in the final minutes. He just refused to.

As much as I want Caleb Williams to be horrendous and a bonafide bust, I'm nowhere near that thinking right now. It is fun to watch him fail though. The Bears haven't given me a guy to hate in a long time. Fields was never worth giving a shit about, but seeing him have early success in Pittsburgh is great. Caleb Williams is a cocky star who I yearn to watch struggle. With how talented that roster is, people thought they'd be dominating from the jump. I'm pretty sure the Bears had the highest o/u win total for a rookie starting QB ever. Instead that offense is stuck in the mud and it looks ugly. That offensive line might be the worst unit in football.

At some point Caleb will stop playing like he's in college, but for now Tory Taylor is going to get plenty of run. Not a great start that he flat out publicly lied to his teammate Tory Taylor and left him out to dry. Guy probably didn't practice a single punt after that quote. Now he's the most important player on the team. Chemistry issues in Chicago? Some are saying it.
