No Team Has Ever Quit as Badly or as Quickly as 2024 Florida State

The rest of this season in Tallahassee is going to be fascinating to watch. Not because Florida State is in any way a team worth watching — it's potentially the worst preseason Top 10 team ever — but because seemingly every player wearing a Seminoles uniform has quit on September 14 and things could go very off the rails the rest of the way.

Memphis is a good football team, but it didn't even play particularly well and still had this game in hand the entire way because Florida State made a mistake at every opportunity. Three turnovers, 2-11 on third down, an offside penalty on 4th down that allowed Memphis to run some more time off the clock in the closing minutes of the game. This team is the definition of a dumpster fire.

FSU is 0-3 with losses as a one-, two- and three-touchdown favorite. Its next game is against a Cal team that has already beaten Auburn on the road. Clemson, Miami and Notre Dame are virtual guaranteed losses. Any combination of SMU, Duke and North Carolina could absolutely beat these guys and then the game against Florida at the end of the season will just come down to who can muster up enough pride to exert some effort — and it sure looks like that isn't gonna be the Seminoles. I think 2-10 is absolutely on the table for this team. And if the entire team quit last year with one game left and seemingly nothing to play for, what is a team full of mercenaries from the transfer portal going to do with nine games left and nothing to play for?

If there's one silver lining for FSU fans, at least you locked up Mike Norvell at $10 million a year for the next seven seasons.
