Tate McRae Has Officially Brought Back Mid-2000s Popstar Aura After Her Music Video For Her New Single "It’s ok I’m ok"

Tate McRae dropped her hot new single and video, "It's OK I'm OK," last night and it's got everyone talking. In it, she's strutting around NYC in some seriously daring outfits, even going full-on nude, (pixelated). Fans pointed out nods to iconic pop moments from Britney Spears and the Pussycat Dolls via her outfit changes.

The song, is a certified banger produced by ILYA, Savan Kotecha, and KING HITMAKER Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic frontman and songwriter of 1000 #1s). And it s basically Tate's way of saying on to the next one.

Last month she teased the song live at her sold out Madison Square Garden show - which Hubbs was all over

Then last week she dropped this on her Instagram story (she really knows how to market)

and an 11-second teaser clip from the video that got the buzz going. But nothing like last night when she released the whole thing, and everybody got to  ̶r̶e̶p̶e̶a̶t̶e̶d̶l̶y̶ ̶r̶e̶w̶i̶n̶d̶ watch the arrest scene.

Credit where credit is due, Hubbs beat me to it and has been all over covering this girl's blow up this year. He caught her at this year's NHL All-Star Game (she's from Calgary and is a huge hockey fan, so the NHL being the geniuses they are had her perform and she melted the place down).

He beat me to it fair and square by minutes. But those are the blog game rules. If you're not first you're last.

(Sidebar, when digging for this draft to screenshot, I became aware of the absurd amount of half-finished/never-began blogs I've got sitting in here over the years. It's insane and embarrassing.)

But that's on me for not blogging about her back when I first saw this all coming, and called it back in December.

Tate's been killing it since her 2023 hits "Exes" and "Greedy" took the world by storm.

But she got on a lot of people's radars back when she dropped her smash single "You Broke Me First" way back in 2020.

She came out of nowhere with this and it did seriously major numbers. Not just here in North America but worldwide.

The first time hearing her you can tell she can actually sing. She has serious range and a sexy raspiness to her voice that makes her stand out.

And, well, of course, looking like she does doesn't hurt either.

She followed that up with an EP that ended up becoming the most streamed female EP of 2021 on Spotify, but she caught radio and dj's ears again when she was featured on the smash dance record "You" from Regard along with Troye Sivan.

and again pairing with Tiesto on "1035"

Then in late 2023 she released her second album, Think Later, and really blew up commerically.

Singles "Exes"

and "Greedy" (which she shot in an empty ice rink)

were two of the biggest pop hits of the year, and still chart.

She's spent most of this year touring touring second album, and just wrapped up the US leg with a massive show at Madison Square Garden. Now, she's taking her talents down under to tour Australia and New Zealand scheduled to be with her boyfriend, The Kid Laroi, but last two nights ago she showed up at the VMA's without him. (Dressed to kill I might add). So who knows?

Bottom line is this. Between Tate Mcrae and Chappell Roan, the next generation of pop music is here, and it's actually good.

This girl can sing better than 90% of the female pop musicians of today, she can dance better than Britney Spears, and she's hotter than blue hell.

And she's Canadian, and we all know Candian girls are the greatest, and she loves hockey.

Like I wrote in the title of my unpublished blog, get really familiar with the name Tate Mcrae because she is going to be a next-level superstar.

p.s. - I came out of the bathroom backstage at Lollapalooza last month and she was standing right there getting interviewed before going on stage. Security had the one way in and out blocked off by her so I had to stand there praying I didn't get slapped with a restraing order.

p.p.s. - we are BIG fans of Tate on Barstool Backstage social media. throw us a follow -
