It's Time For The Miami Dolphins To Make Their Throwbacks Permanent

It’s official: the Miami Dolphins will be wearing their iconic aqua throwback jerseys this Thursday against the Buffalo Bills, which makes the Miami Dolphins moneyline an automatic bet for me. The aura that this jersey brings to the team is unmatched, and honestly, it makes them the most dangerous team in the NFL.

When it comes to the Miami Dolphins, Frank and I disagree on pretty much everything—except one thing. In fact, I’ll take it a step further and say the entire Miami Dolphins fan base disagrees on pretty much everything—except one thing. And that one thing is that our throwback jerseys should be permanent.

The Miami Dolphins throwback jerseys are, without a doubt, the best jerseys in the NFL. Sure, I’m a fan of the Chargers' baby blue and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' creamsicles, but neither of those jerseys have an undefeated season and back-to-back Super Bowl championships. Ever since the Miami Dolphins switched from their glorious throwback logo, they’ve done nothing but lose. Not even the great Dan Marino could win after the logo switched, so what makes you think a team without him can win without the old logo?

Aside from my conspiracy that changing the logo and building our stadium on an Indian burial ground cursed the Dolphins, the players themselves all prefer the throwback logo. Anytime you see a Dolphins player in a pre- or post-game interview, they’re wearing the throwbacks. When they’re walking around the practice facility, they’re repping the throwback logo. Everyone and their mother knows that the throwback logo is the logo of the Miami Dolphins.

If I didn’t love getting shit-faced at tailgates so much, I’d run an experiment to see how many Dolphins fans rep the throwback logo over the current one at games. Based on my drunk eye, I’d say at least 65% of fans who attend Dolphins games are repping the throwback logo. And it has nothing to do with the rarity of how often the team wears the throwbacks—people rock the throwbacks simply because they’re better. Every year, the top-selling jerseys and hats are the throwbacks.
