Auburn Quarterback Peyton Thorne Says He Received Venmo Requests From Fans For Their Gambling Losses After Throwing 4 Interceptions Vs. Cal

So the way this story goes is that Auburn was 11.5 point favorites at home against Cal on Saturday. Payton Thorne proceeded to throw not one, not two, not three, but four interceptions in the game, in which Auburn not only failed to cover the near two touchdown spread.....they lost outright. And now Payton Thorne is shouting from the mountain tops how fans are Venmo requesting him for their gambling losses:

Maybe I'm in the minority here but I have no problem with the fans doing this. I mean, the starting quarterback of Auburn, who transferred in from Michigan State, probably makes more than 95% of the citizens of Alabama. And they're spending their dimes, while he's collecting dollars, to bet on their Auburn Tigers to cover at home. So when they don't, they want some accountability. And let's be honest, it'd be one thing if he played an average game and they lost to a better team. But he damn near completed more passes to California than he did to his own teammates!

A QBR of 28.9 when you're double digit favorites at home, when you're an SEC team, should be a criminal offense. But the fans aren't chanting lock him up, all they want is their money back! So cry me a river, Thorne, but it comes with the territory. If you're the QB1 of an SEC team that wins, they quite literally treat you like a King. He says that no one ever sends him money when he plays well, but umm, yes they do? That's what the NIL and the free drinks and the eats for free type of shit is for.

At the end of the day, if you're treated like a God when you win and treated like shit when you lose, then just don't throw 4 interceptions at home as a double digit favorite against a non-conference opponent.
