Two Delta Planes Collided On The Goddamn TARMAC Of The Atlanta Airport

CNN- Two Delta Air Lines planes collided as both were taxiing for takeoff from Atlanta’s busy Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Tuesday morning. The wingtip of a Delta Airbus A350 “came into contact” with a Delta CRJ 900 regional jet operated by Endeavor Airlines, Delta Air Lines spokesperson Anthony Black said. Nobody was injured in the collision and the passengers of the regional flight were taken back to the terminal by bus, Black said.

Passengers will be placed on alternate flights, Delta said in a statement. There were 221 passengers on the Airbus and 56 customers on the regional jet, the airline said.

This may come across as harsh, but I think someone has to get fired for this, even if it started as a harmless game of Just The Wingtip. I admittedly don't know the first thing about aviation since I don't have the balls or brains to do any job at the airport from TSA to pilot to air traffic controller. But if two planes can't make it off the fucking ground without colliding, something needs to change before they start sending planes up into the air at hundreds of miles per hour. That's just Day 1 Plane School stuff (Again, I obviously never went to Plane School due to lack of intelligence and guts. But that definitely has to be something they teach right after giving out the syllabus).

I usually ignore people who complain about wait times or delays at the airport since they usually have a perfectly good reason for it. I'd rather wait safely on the ground of an airport while staring at my phone instead of having to worry about someone smuggling a weapon on board, the plane getting tossed around by the weather, or any of the other 8 million things that could go wrong between takeoff and landing. However, I think I draw the line at getting delayed because the pilots wanted to start playing bumper planes. That just feels unnecessary. Unless it comes out that one of the pilots just really wanted to get in the air and tried to move things along by cutting ahead of another plane. In that case, I respect the hustle since every minute a pilot shaves off of a trip feels like absolute heaven.

You know who's not going to complain about getting delayed for this collision? Kate Hussey, who went from flying to cover a hurricane to being able to cover her own flight instead. All-time unexpected W.
