Aaron Rodgers Survived a Whole Game For the New York Jets: Takeaways

The Jets lost last night. They lost the battle but they can still win the war. Last year when Rodgers got hurt, pulling out a win against the Bills was a won battle but cost the war. Though the defense got absolutely ran through by a backup runningback there is actually hope this time through. The offense looked semi-confident when it came to QB play especially in the first quarter.

Offensively there were 2 bad drops and a tip drill pick that ultimately were the game changers. That was unlucky, but where the game was truly lost was the San Francisco 49ers maintaining possession for basically the whole 2nd quarter and the majority of the 2nd half into garbage time. Their offensive line took advantage of a defense that was gassed. It was Shanahan perfection game planning. I mean look at how easy Deebo waltzed in there.

The thing is the 18 points in field goals was a brutal grind out. Many men lost fantasy games due to Jake Moody's 26 fantasy points. Those long drives that ended in field goals brutalized the Jet's defense. It truly was a war of attrition and you could see it. The Jets looked like they couldn't get a push for shit and tackled like tired ass dudes.

This is where the game was lost. The offensive time of possession didn't allow the Jets to get much of a rhythm.

But at the same time, you can see that there is an amazing ceiling for the very talented offensive roster. Rodgers was firing on all cylinders. It did not look like, outside of drops, that the offense was a shit show like last year. There was an adult in the room.

This success on a free play never happened. This was a gimme that will be a gamechanger in the future.

The 9ers are a very good team. I am excited to see what the Jets do against some of the weaker opponents in the future. The defense (perversely, our strong suit over the past couple of years) is now what needs work. I think the game against the Patriots will be a better reflection on how exactly good or bad the Jets are.

Honestly even though its an L its pretty damn exciting.
