Dana White Says The UFC Has Produced Movies To Play Between Each Fight At The Sphere This Weekend

The UFC is finally putting on their highly anticipated Mexican Independence Day card at the Sphere this weekend (headlined by Sean O'Malley vs Merab Dvalishvili) and while we still have NO IDEA what the event/Sphere graphics will look like - Dana White is promising to blow all of the previous (and future) shows there outta the water.

We already knew that they put over $20mil into the production for this card, but Uncle Dana just revealed that they've actually shot Hollywood level movies to play between the fights, sprinkled in throughout the night. Apparently, these movies (or rather, chapters of the same movie) will tell the story of combat sports in Mexico and honor Mexican history/legacy, while still letting the fights themselves be the spotlight. I'd love to know if any big time actors/directors are involved - but even with no names, this sounds awesome. We interviewed Brian Ortega and Merab Dvalishvili just a few days ago, and tried to get some info outta them, but they had strict confidentiality orders and couldn't disclose what they know. It sounds massive, though.

Personally, I still can't picture what they'll have on the big dome screen during the fights themselves, but anything is possible with this technology. I mean, U2 is now virtually performing there and you can't even tell that they're not in the building with you....

I'm still rooting for a giant Hasbulla that makes the fighters look like action figures he's playing with.

Dana White swears that because of how much goes into the production of an event at the Sphere, they'll never do it again - but I have a feeling as soon as somebody claims a concert/event has one-upped the UFC, they'll be back to do it bigger and better. We'll see, though - gotta get through the event this weekend first! I'll be there and can't wait!
