The SCUMBAG Raiders Tried To Muddy Jim Harbaugh's First Win By Starting A Fight

To set the scene, this is obviously a big game. Jim Harbaugh's first outing has head coach, at home vs their biggest rivals. The staff, along with half the roster, have been replaced by his acolytes and ex-Ravens. There was a ton riding on this working out with Harbaugh delivering the two things Herbert has never had as a QB: A competent defense and running game. Well, the first half wasn't great. The defense was humming but the running game was silent, the O line was getting pushed around and nobody was getting open at all. Something flipped at the second half, though, and everything Chargers fans wanted out of this marriage came to fruition. 

JK Dobbins finished with 135 yards and a TD. The defense finished strong, only allowing 296 yards of offense and 10 points. The lack of receiver talent was VERY apparent, but rookie Ladd McConkey lead the team in receivers and had a score. The O line also settled in, and 5th overall pick Joe Alt had a fantastic day against Maxx Crosby. 

At the end of the game, though, we get to the clip above. During a 2PC rushing attempt, Josh Palmer and Quentin Johnston blocked Jack Jones and Marcus Epps into the endzone, as was his job. Jones and Epps took extreme offense to this routine part of the game, and decided to attack Palmer and Johnston. Then multiple Raiders flew in and attacked Chargers players trying to break up the fight. Here is a little Zaprueder. 

It starts out with TE Will Dissley coming over to break up the fight, pulling QJ away from the action. 

Then, Everyone's favorite podcaster/almost bad word sayer Maxx Crosby shows up and decides to put QJ and rip him to the ground (because he is a scumbag like the entire Raiders franchise).

Dissly obviously doesn't want his teammate to get ripped to the ground. Christian Wilkins decides that is also a massive offense and decides to rip Will Dissly to the ground. 

At the end of the day, it's almost hard to be mad at them. This is all that the franchise has. Being scum. Whether it's Jerry Tillery last year, John Gruden a few years before, or the myriad of offseason issues they seem to always go through, its just always something with them. 

Anyway, I won't let it distract from what was a proof-positive home opener. The problems of last year have been improved upon and, even though I still think this is an 8-9 team, they can bang and are heading in the right direction. Crack open the Sierra Nevadas, baby.
