A Bag Of Cheetos Had A "World Changing" Impact On Carlsbad Caverns
NY Post- Just one bag of Cheetos can be “world changing.”
A parkgoer at Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico recently dropped a bag full of Cheetos at the caverns.
That one bag of the dusty orange snack made a “huge impact” on the cave’s ecosystem, the park said in a Facebook post.
“At the scale of human perspective, a spilled snack bag may seem trivial, but to the life of the cave it can be world changing,” the park said.
The post explained how some incidental impacts can be “difficult or impossible” to prevent, such as the fact that people walk among the caves on a regular basis, leaving a fine trail of lint — but other impacts are “completely avoidable,” such as dropping a bag of snacks.
“Great or small we all leave an impact wherever we go. Let us all leave the world a better place than we found it,” the post concluded.
The park’s website states that food and drinks are prohibited in the cavern except for plain water as it attracts animals into cavern areas “not usually frequented by wildlife.”
Who would have known that a bag of Cheetos could have such an impact on an ecosystem. If you are wondering exactly how a bag of chips can fuck things up, trust me I can't explain it as I got C's and D's in science my entire life. I'll leave it to the experts.

Cave crickets, mites, spiders and flies soon organize into a temporary food web, dispersing the nutrients to the surrounding cave and formations. Molds spread higher up the nearby surfaces, fruit, die and stink. And the cycle continues.”

I can't help but find this entire situation funny. Some random moron drops a bag of chips and sets off a chain reaction screwing up the caves and having a massive impact. That's funny. Can't help but think it reminds me of the Seinfeld scene.
The real thing I have here off this is why did it take so long to find the bag, if they acted faster catching the culprit is a dead giveaway … orange fingers. There would be no way for the guy to escape he'd be dead to rights. The fact this place took so long to find this bag is on them. Now they have no shot of figuring out who did it, when if they acted swiftly they could have locked them up (metaphorically) right away. Shame on them for acting so slow, it's your own fault.
