HERO BALL: Deuce McBride Hit A Shot From Wayyy Downtown In Front Of Hundreds Of People To Win A West Virginia Student Free College Tuition

I'm just gonna go ahead and say that Deuce McBride has the Clutch Gene. Sure every Knicks fan already knew that after watching him go from a lightly used reserve to hitting massive lollypop threes in the playoffs this year. But I still think hitting a shot to wipe out the ball and chain of student loans for someone in front of hundreds of the craziest fucks in West Virginia this side of a Rough N Rowdy arena carries even more pressure than even a postseason shot at a raucous Madison Square Garden.

I can't even fathom what it's like being the kid Deuce hit that shot for either. Waking up in the morning hoping to get a nice solid buzz that will last all the way through tomorrow's noon kickoff against Penn State before watching someone ensure you will never have Sallie Mae reaching her old, crusty hands into your pocket for years. Athletes get put on a pedestal all the time. But Deuce McBride is a legitimate hero for sinking that shot.

As someone that is unbelievably less than a decade away from having a college aged kid and is so scared of the thought of what it'll cost to send her there that I have been actively praying college either is no longer important or somehow free falls in price becomes affordable for the first time in a generation,  I can tell you that anybody who did that for my kid would become my favorite person on the planet. Yes I would love that person more than my kids, more than my wife, and more than anybody else in my family or group of friends. Deuce McBride is a legend for that shot and hopefully Thibs remembers this shot if he needs a big shot late in a big game during the playoffs next year.
