'Win The Super Bowl' - Lions GM Brad Holmes Puts His Kneecaps On The Table And Lays Out The Simple Plan For Detroit This Year

I still can't believe we live in a world where I can say the Lions expectations are to win the Super Bowl and not have everyone laugh. We live in a world where this is a real statement, not just people talking to talk and say the same thing over and over again. That alone should give Brad Holmes a lifetime deal in Detroit. But the fact of the matter is this - the Lions are good. They should have made the Super Bowl a year ago if they stuck to their gameplan and didn't try bleeding clock and going too soft in the second half against the 49ers.

And sure, what do you want a GM to say before the regular season? Our expectations are to go .500 and maybe sneak into the playoffs? Of course not. Pretty sure every GM in the world wouldn't say that because they want to believe they have a team good enough to win a Super Bowl. But for the first time in I don't know, decades(?), the Lions enter the season with expectations. Not even like hey don't suck expectations, but real expectations of playing more playoff games at home and winning.

I love it mostly because I love how the Lions operate. They aren't afraid to speak up, they aren't afraid to talk some shit and they have this way of winning over America (outside of NFC North fans). I still remember Dan Campbell talking about how he wanted to ruin the Packers season 2 years ago in the last game of the year when the Lions were eliminated right before it started. We need more of that in the NFL. So kneecaps are on the table. It's the year the Lions plan to win the Super Bowl.
