A Bald Eagle Was Deemed Too Fat To Fly And I Feel Like We All Can Relate

UPI News -  A supposedly "injured" bald eagle rescued from a national park in Missouri was found to be merely "too fat to fly" after eating a bit too much raccoon.

The post said the eagle "was found to be healthy but engorged with raccoon -- in other words, too fat to fly."

The Dickerson Park Zoo took X-rays of the eagle, which revealed a recent meal of what appeared to be a fairly large roadkill raccoon.

Lot to unpack here my first question is this … if an eagle becomes too fat is there even a way to lose weight? I guess I have never thought about it before but how do animals like birds gain and lose weight in the first place. I guess I can say with dogs and cats it's their eating habits etc but with birds, how does a bird get fat? And how does a bird lose weight? Does flying count as cardio? These are all things I can firmly say I never considered before today.

Anyway, I feel like we've all been there before with this. "Too fat to ". Whether it's run, move, fly etc, at one point or another we all have sat on our ass and had one too many chips, one too many cookies, or a 2nd helping of mashed potatoes we shouldn't have and would be deemed "too fat to do __." So let's not shame this eagle, let's all agree to say "been there bro."
